Yes. We strongly recommend that all users read the TSTT High Speed Internet Terms & Conditions before applying for the service. These are listed in the service contract that each High Speed Internet customer must sign before the service is installed.
The customer is responsible for the installation of the ADSL modem or router on his personal computer (PC). This also involves the installation of PC drivers that are required for a customer's PC to work with his modem or router. TSTT will not be responsible for the installation these devices. Most modem / router suppliers will provide CDs and / or brochures to assist a customer with installation, and will also install them for an additional fee. Customers who purchase ADSL modems / routers from TSTT will be charged a $350.00 fee for installation. Assistance will be provided for the computer directly connected to the ADSL modem / router ONLY, all other computers on the local area network will be the responsibility of the customer.
Your home / business environment can affect your ADSL connection and speed. Customers need to be aware of the following:
- Halogen lamps, power cables and cordless phones when placed near your ADSL line adversely affect your connection.
- Some security systems may disrupt your ADSL connection.
- Bad wiring in your home can adversely affect your ADSL connection.
- Extreme weather (electrical storms) can adversely affect your ADSL connection.
- Rolling blackouts adversely affect your ADSL connection.
- Two or more ADSL modems cannot be used on the same ADSL equipped telephone line.
- Burglar alarms prevent the correct operation of an ADSL modem if they are connected to an ADSL equipped telephone line.
Yes, generally this is not a problem. As long as there are facilities available in your area, TSTT will provide as many lines as you want. Each line will terminate on a separate copper pair into your house / business.
To enjoy simultaneous voice and Internet use, you must have a POTS splitter installed. A POTS splitter uses a low pass filter to separate the voice and Internet data being transmitted along the same phone line. The splitter is a passive device, not requiring power so that "life-line" voice service can be provided in the event of a power failure. TSTT will be installing POTS splitters for all High Speed Internet customers, and the splitter box remains TSTT's property. Customers are expected to keep POTS splitters in good condition.
A customer can convert an existing telephone line to a High Speed Internet line. In this case the telephone line number and billing would remain the same along with any existing special services on the line (such as call-waiting, voice mail etc.). The customer will also be billed an additional monthly rental for the TSTT High Speed Internet service. This will appear on the bill under the number DSL, where the last seven digits will be the same as the telephone line used for TSTT High Speed Internet. A customer can apply for a new telephone line if there are none available at his business / home that can be used for TSTT High Speed Internet service. A telephone number will be assigned, and the billing for both the telephone line and High Speed Internet services will occur as described above.
