CHOOSING A MOBILE HANDSET AND A MOBILE PLAN THAT BEST SUITS YOU

Choosing a mobile handset is easy. Consider these three points:
AFFORDABILITY & LIFESTYLE, FUNCTION AND STYLE.

AFFORDABILITY & LIFESTYLE

First consider how much money you are prepared to pay for a handset. The cost of mobile handsets and other devices like PDAs and communicators range from TT$200. to TT$4,000. You can purchase any brand or model of handset, but consider how it will enhance your lifestyle then this can help rationalize how much you are willing to pay for the handset.

FUNCTION

Mobile handsets come with many features and offer different functions. If you want a mobile handset to simply make and receive calls and to send and receive text messages you should choose a handset with this functionality.

If you want a handset with greater functionality, then look for one with more features. For example: Infrared capability, voice commands, voice recordings, extended handset book capability, SMS and picture messaging. Also, some feature rich handsets and mobile devices can offer you the ability to take the office with you while you are on the road, thereby increasing productivity.

STYLE

Style may or may not be important to you, but it is very important to some people. Like any other brand you may wear, the type of mobile you use is becoming a fashion statement, a signature of your unique style and personality. Increasingly, a mobile is becoming a fashion statement.

Many handset manufacturers are aware of this trend and have designed a variety of models for you to choose from, in a wide assortment of colours, shapes, sizes and styles. Some handsets incorporate very basic functions, features and designs whilst others are a bit more elaborate and stylish. While all handsets are catered towards the individual's taste, style can sometimes be a major deciding factor in today's world.

Choosing a TDMA or GSM Mobile Handset
TDMA handsets essentially allow voice calls and some basic data services like TSTT's Lingo (SMS) and some Value Added Services. These handsets do not require a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card and are therefore suitable if you want to make and receive calls and send basic text messages. GSM handsets and devices allow voice calls as well as enhanced data services (network dependant) and Value Added Services. These handsets use SIM cards, which are interchangeable chips offering greater functionality, ease when Roaming and use of other mobile services and applications. SIM cards are usually sold separately. GSM and GPRS mobile devices offer a range of products like PDAs, Communicators and PC Cards to name a few, which are perfect if your lifestyle requires you to work on the road and travel to foreign countries. These handsets offer multiple functionality.

Choosing the best Mobile Service Plan
