It's not always convenient or possible to talk on your mobile. When it's too noisy to have a conversation on your mobile phone, you'll be glad you learned how to text.
Even if you've never done it before, spend a couple minutes now finding out how easy and convenient it is to send text messages. A lot of mobiles have something called 'predictive texting'. This makes texting even quicker and easier.
To get to know all the ways of texting for your particular mobile, you need to read the section on texting in the User Guide that came with your phone or try it out now by following these simple instructions.
*
- Press the 'Menu' button on your mobile
- Scroll down to or select messages
- Now select 'Send New', 'Write New', or 'Message Editor'
- Enter your message using the key pad (usually up to 160 characters)
- Now press 'Send'
- Enter the number of the person you want to send your message to or search for it in your phone book
- Press 'Send' again
- Your message will then be sent
It's that easy!
* Dependant on handset
When you receive a text message, a little envelope symbol will usually appear on the screen of your mobile. Some mobile phones beep as well to let you know when a message has arrived.
When you're ready to read your message:
- Select 'Messages' or 'Read Messages' from your phone's menu (some phones change the normal menu key to read automatically)
- The message will appear on the screen. Just scroll through to read the message
- Once you've read your message you can click 'Reply' or 'Delete'
It's a good idea to delete old messages as soon as you're finished with them. This is because there's only a limited amount of space on your phone for storing text messages. Memory capacity varies according to the handset make and model and you would not want to miss a text because your phone is full!
When the phone's memory is full, you may not be able to send or receive messages. Depending on your phone's options, you may receive a warning that the memory is almost full or full (message varies according to handset). Therefore, it is advised to delete old messages prior to receiving new incoming messages.
Anyone can send you a text message from e-mail simply by composing a message and sending it directly to your mobile handset.
Your handset address is your 10-digit mobile number followed by @tsttmobile.co.tt.
For example, 8686880000@tsttmobile.co.tt
If you have the 'predictive text' function switched on, your mobile will predict what word you're about to type and you only have to press each key once rather than a number of times to find the letter you want.
For example, if you want to write 'love', just press 5683. If it doesn't choose the right word, you can press * to display other options. However, this may vary depending on your handset so check your User Guide for instructions. Once you get the hang of it, you can even enter your favorite words into your phone's dictionary, such as 2nite or b4.
