Frequently Asked Questions about TSTT Lingo Info Text

Q. When I try to subscribe to a service, I receive the message: 'Service does not exist'.

A. If you received the message - 'Service does not exist', you should do the following: Q. My mobile phone does not allow me to send Text Messages. How then can I subscribe for TSTT Lingo Info Text?

A. If you are unable to send Text Messages, you will be unable to subscribe to TSTT's Info Text. However, TSTT is putting steps in place, so in the near future you will be able to receive Lingo Info Text messages.

Q. Why didn't I get my Lingo Info Text messages on time?

A. Actually, there is no fixed time for the delivery of Lingo Info Text messages. The Lingo Info Text messages that are sent to your phone for the subscription service are expected to be received within a time frame and not a fixed time. This is due to the high volume of messages being sent. As a result, not everyone will receive their Lingo InfoText messages at the same time.

Q. I subscribed for a service and did not receive it until the next day.

A. The time you receive the first Lingo Info Text message after subscribing for the service will depend upon the time of day you send your subscription. For example, if you subscribed for Scriptures after the alloted delivery time for that messages, you will not receive the Scriptures Lingo Info Text message until the following morning.

Q. Why have I not received any Lingo Info Text messages?

A. If you have not received any Lingo Info Text messages, it may be because of the following factors: Q. How can I stop receiving Lingo Info Text messages on my mobile phone?

A. To stop a service simply: Type 'STOP' & 'Service Name' and send the text to 683-9999. For example, to stop the Sports service simply: Type 'Stop Sports' and send this text to 683-9999. Be sure to leave a space between the command and the service name.

Q. What is the difference between 'Get' (Service) and 'Start' (Service)?

A. At present, valid commands to subscribe for TSTT's Lingo Info Text are 'Start', 'Stop' and 'Get'. 'Start' and 'Stop' relate to what is known as a 'Push' Service. Push Information Services are those that are broadcast at specific times according to a specified schedule. You are required to subscribe to a 'Push' service in order to receive information on your mobile phone.

'Get' relates to what is known as a 'Pull' Service. You are not required to subscribe to a 'Pull' service. 'Pull' Information Services are those that can be retrieved at any time upon request.

Therefore, if you send a text starting with the word 'Get' for a subscription service like 'Get Sports', you may receive a message that reads: 'This service does not support the information request'. Similarly, this holds true if you send a text starting with the word 'Start' or 'Stop' for a 'Pull' Service.

Q. I tried to subscribe for more than one Lingo Info Text message at a time and only received a Lingo Info Text message from one of the services.

A. In order to receive all of the requested Lingo Info Text messages, you must subscribe for each service individually. For example, if you wish to receive Sports, News and Scripture messages, you cannot send the text message: 'Start Sports, News and Scripture' or even 'Start Sports, News, Scripture'. You will only receive the service that is first in the line of requests. In this case, if you send the message 'Start Sports, News, Scripture', you will only receive a message that confirms the successful subscription to Sports.

Q. I sent a text message to subscribe for a TSTT Lingo Info Text service and I did not receive a confirmation message.

A. Please make sure that you sent the message to the correct number.

Q. When I receive a Lingo Info Text message from a Subscription 'Push' Service or perform a 'Get' command for a 'Pull' Service, I receive more than one message.

A. This is because the message has been concatenated. By concatenation we mean that the message has been split-up into more than one message because it exceeded the specified character limit which, for most mobile phones, is 160.

Q. What are those strange numbers I see my Lingo Info Text messages being sent from? Who is sender 100, 22, 500 etc.?

A. Each TSTT Lingo Info Text has a unique service code. When you receive a message from let's say 'Sender 100', you are actually receiving a message from TSTT Lingo Info Text and not an actual person. As such, you cannot send a reply to these numbers.

Q. I sent a text message 'Start' & Service Code like 'Start 100' to a TSTT number and I was able to subscribe for a service.

A. All of TSTT Lingo Info Text messages have a unique service code that can be used to 'Start', 'Stop' or 'Get' a service. For example, the service code 22 is linked to Scripture messages, so if you send the text message 'Start 22' to 683-9999, you will receive a confirmation message for Scriptures. You can 'Start', 'Stop' and 'Get' services in this way provided that the correct service code and TSTT number is used. In most cases, it is simpler to remember the service names.

Q. Why am I billed monthly for Lingo Info Text as a Connect customer instead of per message received?

A. Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to bill our Connect customers at the per message rate. Until this is resolved, we are offering our Connect customers the opportunity to enjoy any or all the Lingo Info Text services at a monthly rate of $29.
