Port of Spain, Trinidad – November 23rd, 2013

Members of the Mt Dor Community can attest to the fact that tis’ definitely the season for caring and sharing.

Through an initiative by the blink | bmobile Foundation in collaboration with Families in Action, members of the Mt Dor Parents’ Support group received Christmas hampers put together from the personal contributions of blink | bmobile employees. This annual “Christmas Charity Hamper Drive” kicked off in Mt Dor and will include blink | bmobile employees going to other communities in East and South Trinidad and Tobago.

In Mt Dor, the Parents’ Support Group was hosting an end of year get-together at the Mt Dor Community Centre when blink | bmobile and Families in Action came with gifts. Stacy Myers, founder of the Parents Support Group was extremely grateful for the outpouring of care from the blink | bmobile employees for her community.

Myers explained “We meet so many parents that have so many needs and don’t know where to turn for help. Our support group tries to match the needs of the families with stakeholders that want to help.” Throughout the year the support group also does fund raising in the Community and connects members to resources outside of what they may be able to offer.

Myers expressed her delight at the blink | bmobile Foundation donating the hampers and the employees that came in person to meet with them. “I was so happy that blink | bmobile chose us again this year because although these families have working members, giving the hampers really helped, as, food is always necessary. I was so overjoyed that they decided to partner with us in that way and I hope it’s a relationship that continues.”

Natasha Davis, Executive Vice President of Marketing at TSTT said employees take a keen interest in personally giving back to communities through a variety of programs. “At Christmas it is about the surprise and delight they can deliver and restore faith in the kindness of people.”

Makeda Delpeche, a mother of six and member of the support group thanked Families in Action and the blink | bmobile Foundation, while lamenting the fact that there were not more corporate entities that are more actively involved in communities. “It’s very unfortunate that more people don’t do this sort of thing. And for blink | bmobile and Families in action to be doing this, is very helpful. Many families in the Community need this. I have six kids and I can speak for myself when I say that it is much appreciated.”

According to Families in Action representative, Victor Best, being present and adding that human touch goes a very long way in impacting the communities they assist. “As a corporate entity they took up an initiative that is well appreciated. It’s a pity more corporate bodies do not go out in the communities and put faces to their names. Everyone knows blink | bmobile, but no one knows the people that work there so it adds that human touch.”
