LARCENY OF CABLES OVER THE WEEKEND

Port of Spain, Trinidad - On 1st August 2010 at 10:09 am Officers attached to TSTT Task force observed a White Mazda pick-up registration number PAU 4025 being driven along Sisters Road Table Land with a quantity of TSTT cables in its tray. The vehicle was stopped by the officers and a search revealed 150 meters of 400 pair 24 gauge cable and 80 meters of 600 pair 26 gauge cable. The cables had an estimated value of $27,953.00.

The occupants of the vehicle -Wesley Cumberbatch (driver) of Carolina Village, Couva; Richard Adams of George Village, Table Land and David Elliot of Fifth Company Road, Indian Walk, Moruga – were arrested.

The men appeared before Magistrate Indrani Cede in the Princes town Magistrate Court on Tuesday 3rd August 2010 where they entered a plea of Not Guilty to the charge of larceny of TSTT cables. Wesley Cumberbatch was granted bail of $350,000.00 with surety, David Elliot bail was set at $250,000.00 with surety and Richard Adams was denied bail due to an outstanding warrant.

The matter was sent to the second court for Summary Trial on Thursday 12th August 2010. On that day the men appeared before Magistrate Akil Khan but it was postponed to August 23, 2010, because none of the three men Wesley Cumberbatch, David Elliot and Richard Adams were able to get bail .
