Republic Bank and TSTT Launch Online Shopping Card

Republic Bank Limited in collaboration with the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (TSTT) launched an innovation in online shopping with the Republic/TSTT Visa Internet Shopping Facility today at TSTT’s corporate headquarters on Independence Square (Tuesday April 1, 2003).

Republic/TSTT Visa Internet Shopping Facility is the first and only card in Trinidad and Tobago designed exclusively for Internet shopping. It provides 24-hour safety, fraud-monitoring services and lower credit limits, and a stronger focus on payment safety allowing you to shop at anytime. The Shopping Facility is not a regular swipe credit card and can only be used for Internet purchases, as it is password protected.  It also offers enhanced security as online expenses can be easily tracked via a separate monthly statement.

The Internet Shopping Facility is only open to TSTT NetXpress customers.  They will receive a 15 per cent discount on their monthly Internet dial-up package once subscription to the Internet Shopping Facility is active. New NetXpress customers will receive free activation, one-month free rental and additional discounts. In addition, Republic cardholders will also get the opportunity to gain valuable bonus points.

Commenting on this new partnership with TSTT, Republic’s Credit Card Centre’s Assistant General Manager Anthony Wong stated, “Today’s technologically savvy customers are very demanding, seeking security, efficiency and convenience.   When you shop online, you want a secure, convenient way to conduct your transactions.  Republic/TSTT Visa Internet Shopping Facility is the first of its kind in Trinidad and Tobago to cater to these needs.”

TSTT’s Chief Operations Officer Nigel Parnell endorsed Mr. Wong’s views and added that combining the advanced security with TSTT NetXpress’ state of the art Internet infrastructure, our customers are just a ‘click’ away from the ultimate Internet shopping experience.
