TSTT helps Habitat for Humanity!!!

Port of Spain,Trinidad - POS, Trinidad (Sonique Solutions) –The local chapter of global, nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization, Habitat for Humanity recently received a major endowment from the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago in the forms of two vehicles. This donation from TSTT will greatly assist this entity and by extension the local community. Habitat for Humanity Trinidad and Tobago (HFHTT) which celebrated its 14th anniversary on March 14th, 2011 is an NGO which serves the housing needs of persons in the low-income bracket. It seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, HFHTT builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses alongside its homeowner (partner) families.

TSTT’s donation comes on the heels of the organization’s only vehicle getting written off by a negligent truck driver, leaving it to manage this social housing construction, as a NGO without any form of mobility. During the handover of the vehicles in Sangre Grande, Jennifer Massiah, National Director of HFHTT expressed her heartfelt thanks and appreciation to TSTT for its continued support for her organization over the years.

“We applaud the commitment and concern that as a corporate entity you continue to support the sterling work of NGOs so that the poorer classes in society can find hope in their despairing worlds. Truly you are a trend setter; ‘connecting and linking’ people in every sense of the phrase”.

She further shared, “This donation now makes a great difference as the vehicles will tremendously aid the project management of all sites scattered from Sangre Grande to Point Fortin and Chaguanas to Rio Claro, not to mention our monthly community mobilization sessions which empowers the people of the community with making their homes more secure to deal with potential natural disasters and or to encourage safer building habits under our Disaster Mitigation program among other community capacity activities”.

In the past TSTT has supported several non-governmental organizations and community-based organizations e.g. Men against Violence against Women, Moms for Literacy, Sad for Toco, South Aids Support and the Credo Centre for socially displaced children. TSTT continues to demonstrate commitment to service to humanity as these acts not only bring people together but pave the road towards becoming a fully developed nation.
