TSTT Hosts Fraud Workshop

July 2006

“Telecommunications fraud has been identified as the single biggest cause of revenue loss for telecommunications providers. With figures averaging between 3 and 5 percent of an operator's annual revenue, these statistics point to a global loss of USD $55 billion per year, making telecommunications fraud a bigger business than international drug trafficking.” Riaan Jacobs Fraud Product Manager Dimension Data Service Provider Solutions (SPS)

For the second consecutive year, TSTT will be hosting the annual C&W Fraud Control Workshop in Trinidad & Tobago. TSTT along with Cable and Wireless delegates from Maldives, UK, CWI UK, BVI, Jamaica, Panama, Barbados, Antigua will meet at the Crowne Plaza on July 4th and 5th, 2006 to discuss the global phenomenon of telecoms fraud and how telecom providers can protect their customers and their operations from this billion-dollar scourge.

The theme of this year’s workshop ‘Our combined knowledge is our strength’ reflects the growing need for operators to collaborate in the development of international best practices against fraud. Trends show that fraudulent practices that achieve a measure of success in one country can spread rapidly to other countries. By working together, telecom operators can implement safeguards to prevent this spread.

TSTT is facilitating the workshop again this year because of the tremendous benefits the company has derived from working with its partners C&W to ensure that the services offered to customers are protected from illegal access.

The opening of the event is scheduled for Tuesday 4th July 2006 at 9:00 AM, Crowne Plaza Hotel’s San Fernando Room and TSTT CEO Carlos Espinal will deliver the feature address.
