TSTT sponsors George Bovell Swim Clinic

Trinidad - Starting 2009 with a splash

T&T Olympian George Bovell III is partnering with TSTT to host a one-day high performance training clinic for local swimmers on January 4th at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya. This is the first of several sessions Bovell pledged to host in collaboration with TSTT to tangibly give back to the local swimming fraternity that played a major role in his early development.

Bovell will be joined by Slovenian Olympic swimmer and UC Berkeley teammate Jernej Godec to conduct intensive discussions and demonstrations in and out of the pool. Bovell and Godec have accumulated a wealth of experience over the years in their preparations for US collegiate swim championships as well as various international championships especially the Olympics.

“The main goal of this unique clinic is to share proven techniques and strategies for swimmers to get the most out of their performance. In the process we will help them identify areas for improving which can unlock their greatest potential. The most important lesson however will be for them to understand how the discipline of swimming will help them succeed not only in the sport but also in life after swimming" said Bovell.

The clinic will draw participants from among the country’s top swimmers based on nominations received from local coaches. Bovell noted that coaches have also been invited to observe. “Both TSTT and I share the opinion that this is for the benefit of Trinidad and Tobago so if local coaches see things that they can take away then we would strongly encourage them.”

“We anticipate a very successful clinic under George’s guidance and are very encouraged by his interest in giving back to the nation’s youth”, said William Powell, Chief Markeing Officer at TSTT. “This forms another part of our own commitment to ensuring that we have a positive impact on developing the nation’s youth in the areas of Sport, Culture, Education and Health under the TSTT Foundation and we are so pleased that he is giving of his time to support us in achieving that goal.”
