TSTT supports UWI’s Development & Endowment fund Golf Challenge

Trinidad - It’s a novel method of securing much needed cash for struggling university students – the game of golf – and this year TSTT is going out of their way to support this sporty fundraiser. The annual UWI Golf Challenge, hosted by the University of the West Indies (UWI) Development and Endowment Fund, has become not only a top national sporting event, but a major fundraising effort that generates high levels of corporate sponsorship. TSTT, the country’s only full-service telecom provider, is giving more than $30,000 in donations to the Golf Challenge this year. “TSTT has been a contributor to the UWI Development and Endowment Fund for almost 10 years,” said Camille Salandy, TSTT’s Head of Public Relations and External Affairs, speaking yesterday at a hand-over ceremony in Republic Bank Ltd’s Head Office, “in addition to our direct contribution to six scholarships annually, we are donating over $30,000 for the successful hosting of the charity golf event.” The UWI Development and Endowment Fund helps over 130 students annually with expenses such as academic requirements, accommodation, food and travel, through the award of bursaries. Fund Chairman Ronald Harford complimented TSTT on its contribution to Golf Challenge and its wider corporate giving agenda: “Through their contribution to this event and their ongoing partnership with the Fund TSTT has shown their commitment to the educational advancement of our nation’s young people, which is essentially a commitment to our nation itself.” The 4th Annual UWI Golf Challenge takes place this Republic Day.
