Ninety-nine shooters, inclusive of TSTT’s own Garvin Stuart, Gilbert Alexander, Andrew Mc Phie, Makariuos Sprott, Christian Mejia Charles, Matthew Apping and Dennis Gordon, Head, Security Safety and Environment participated in the recently concluded 2007 South Trinidad Rifle’s Association (STRA) National Practical Pistol Championship, at Forest Reserve, Fyzabad.
The event, partly sponsored by TSTT, was the largest in STRA history and included participation by over 13 organisations in addition to TSTT – the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force and its various branches, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, SAUTT, Prisons Services, the Trinidad Rifle Association, and the International Practical Shooting Association among others.
But despite the intense competition, it was Nigel Prudent who took home the STRA National’s Practical Shooting Championship Shooting Challenge Trophy at the prize giving ceremony which took place at Horace’s Garden Restaurant, San Fernando. While the Defence Force and Prisons Services ranked among the top teams in their class and the overall competition.
According to Dennis Gordon, TSTT’s Head, Security Safety and Environment, “As a member of the TSTT team, I must say that we were truly pleased to have been a part of this year’s event, which showcased the best talent around, giving us the confidence that Trinidad and Tobago will be well represented at the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) Competition in Pennsylvania, USA on September 24th 2007.”
Trinidad and Tobago will be represented by a 10-15 member team headed by Nigel Prudent at the International Competition.
