UWI students Guild renews co-operation deal with TSTT

Trinidad - September means the start of a new academic year for the University of the West Indies (UWI) and TSTT has a major presence at the St Augustine campus – providing sponsorship for the Students’ Guild and Orientation Week activities including a special presentation of communications products and how these can be used to help students get the most out of life on campus. All this week (September 8-12) new and returning students on UWI’s Trinidad campus will enjoy events and activities staged by the Undergraduate Guild of Students and funded by TSTT. The Orientation Week initiative is part of a larger agreement between the country’s only full-service telecom provider and the Guild, providing sponsorship to the administration of the Students Guild as well as the Guild’s many student-focused activities. This is TSTT’s third year in the sponsorship role. New Guild president Hillan Morean was extremely optimistic about continuing the successful collaboration between the Guild and TSTT. “We are looking forward to bringing new energy and dynamism to the longstanding relationship so that we can deliver bigger and better support programs to students.” Lisa Agard, TSTT’ Vice President of Legal services shared the Guild’s optimism. “The University is an extremely technology-friendly space where students are benefitting from online services, Wi-Fi broadband access and even online classes. TSTT’s goal is to support these future leaders along their path of discovery and to show them the role technology can play in helping them realize their true potential.” Morean said TSTT’s backing would greatly assist in the Guild’s efforts to expose a wider cross section of the student population to Guild activities and incentives including charity drives and encouraging the growth of student clubs and associations.
