Trinidad - BLINK Entertainment gives flat screen, phones to World Cup promo winners

Two lucky winners had the pleasure of seeing Spain’s World Cup Victory on their new 40” flat Screen TV’s thanks to Blink Entertainment TV’s World Cup Promotion while ten lucky winners also took home state-of-the-art Samsung TV phones.

“I was really ecstatic,” said grand prize winner Aleema Leyya Mohammed-Ali, a sales representative from St Joseph.

Speaking at a short prize-giving ceremony in TSTT’s Port of Spain head office, she explained that the victory was extra sweet because she recently celebrated her birthday: “I turned 28 on the 27th (of June). This is a great promotion. And BLINK Entertainment TV is really great. I like the idea of having everything (TV, Internet and telephone) in one package.”

BLINK Entertainment’s World Cup Promotion is being held to encourage new subscribers to the company’s Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) service, essentially television over high speed Internet. TSTT has been rolling out the service in selected communities with extremely attractive offers (free installation, free service for two months on certain packages). The World Cup promotion, which selects 11 winners per week for four weeks, is an added incentive.

“You guys are the first winners!” Jean McPherson, Head of Business Development – Converged Services, told the winners in a brief speech. “You are also from the first communities to enjoy access to our IPTV service. We feel this is a very important time for technology, communications, entertainment and development for Trinidad and Tobago. What you are partaking of today and through your subscriptions to BLINK TV is a mini-revolution in our telecommunications landscape. Enjoy it.”

The BLINK World Cup winners came from areas as close at Newtown to as far as Princes Town and San Fernando. Business owners, retired public servants, administrative assistants and homemakers all enjoyed their new technology prizes – even those not up to the latest trends.

“No I don’t know too much about the it but my son is there to guide me,” said retired teacher and principal Barbara Dery about her new TV phone. Mrs Dery, who was at first skeptical that the call from TSTT announcing her win was a hoax, was very happy with the prize: “I’ve never won anything in my life except my husband.”,BLINK Entertainment gives flat screen, phones to World Cup promo winners
