Press Release

After a five-year hiatus, bmobile is thrilled to announce the return of B square. This year, the company is turning up the volume with two major live events, all free to the public. This incredible multi-platform experience will take place on Thursday 9th February 2023, with performances from leading Soca stars at both Woodford Square and Ariapita Avenue, Port of Spain - the capital city and home of Trinbago Carnival.

The main events for this year's return are the B square concert at Woodford Square in downtown Port of Spain from 10 am to 12: 30 pm and the b after party on Ariapita Avenue from 6 pm to 9 pm. The concert will be headlined by Soca superstars Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons Alvarez and will include a number of top artistes.

Kashif Greaves, Senior Marketing Manager Marketing & Promotions at TSTT, said this was an event the company was eager to return to the Carnival calendar. "B square was one the largest free concert series in T&T and has always been our way of supporting our artistes and saying thank you to our loyal customers. This year we have chosen to go with one mega event and a series of promotions and activations over a 24-hour period which will include giveaways, discounts and cash prizes. Customers at Woodford Square can also enter our wildly popular money machine.”

“We are happy to be back in the bacchanal!” he added.

Lisa Agard, CEO of TSTT, is keen to see this event return. "B square highlights the best of our country, our talented musicians coming to share the love that is behind Carnival through music, and our people coming together to enjoy it. I would like to encourage everyone to join us, customers or not, as we celebrate the return of Carnival. Having been appointed CEO during the COVID-19 pandemic and its restrictions, I look forward to building on our first year back as a supporter of T&T culture and Carnival and seeing everyone again.”

The company highlighted that both physical events were positioned to allow people to participate where they could. The Woodford Square event is scheduled for the lunch hour so that people working can join in, and the Ariapita after party is for those wishing to come back for a lime or for those who prefer to party in the evening.

‘Hard-Fete’ hit maker and Soca’s favourite lyricist, Bunji Garlin (Ian Antonio Alvarez), is leading the charge for B square. “We are back, we are better than ever, and we are bringing the best line- up you can find anywhere, anytime this season to the stage for our fans and all the bmobile fans.

All Soca people, all Soca lovers, come out!” Fay Ann Lyons-Alvarez, two-time Soca Monarch and three-time Road March winner is looking forward to returning to the stage. “We are excited to return to the square, the city, the home of carnival! At the centre of every single event in every corner of this country is the music. It is Soca music that drives every fete, every lime; music is the soul of Carnival. The Vikings family is proud to be part of this with bmobile - a company also at the centre of T&T and has supported our culture for a long time.”

This event will be an opportunity to celebrate the cultural vibrancy of Trinidad and Tobago and unite the nation in its shared love of Soca music and Carnival. It is free to the public, and bmobile looks forward to turning up the volume and uniting the nation in celebration of Carnival’s triumphant return.
