bmobile Powers Trinidad and Tobago's Next Generation of Track and Field Stars at CARIFTA 2025

TSTT Corporate Communications

bmobile, a longstanding champion of youth empowerment and sport in Trinidad and Tobago, has officially signed on as a sponsor of the 2025 CARIFTA Athletics Games. The prestigious regional event will take place in Trinidad from April 18 - 21 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, drawing hundreds of rising track and field stars from across the Caribbean.

For decades, the CARIFTA has been the proving ground for Caribbean greatness, launching the careers of icons like Jamaica’s Usain Bolt and our own Olympic gold medallist and javelin ace, Keshorn Walcott. In 2025, the legacy continues, right here at home.

The communications solutions provider recognises the Games’ importance in identifying and nurturing the nation’s future track and field stars. This annual event is where dreams are born, heroes emerge, and the next generation of Caribbean athletics takes centre stage.

These games are a crucial steppingstone for aspiring athletes, providing them with the opportunity to compete against the best in the region and gain invaluable experience on the international stage.
“Sponsoring the Games is not just about sport - it’s about creating opportunity, shaping leaders, and deepening national pride,” said Kent Western, TSTT’S CEO “We’ve seen how the CARIFTA Games can transform potential into podium finishes. Our investment reflects our long-term commitment to the youth of Trinidad and Tobago and our belief in the power of sport to inspire, unite, and uplift. This is about building a stronger nation one athlete at a time.”

bmobile has been a consistent supporter of youth development through sport and has continually invested in our nation’s athletics prospects. Through events such as the National Track and Field Championships, Falcon Games, Victoria Education District Sports Association (VEDSA) Games and Keshorn Walcott’s Golden League six-stage series, bmobile continues to fuel the journey of future Olympians.

Walcott, a two-time TT Olympic javelin medallist and longstanding bmobile endorsee, is a true CARIFTA Games success story. In 2009, he won javelin gold (59.30m) at CARIFTA Juniors and produced another gold (63.41m) showing at the 2010 edition. He wrapped up his CARIFTA campaign in 2012 with his fourth consecutive gold (77.59m), before going on to strike Olympic gold later that year.

Former TT hurdler and 2013 World Championships 400m hurdles gold medallist Jehue Gordon, now General Secretary of the National Association of Athletics Administration (NAAATT), also praised bmobile’s commitment.

“bmobile has been supporting the young athletes for many decades,” said Gordon. “I benefitted from their sponsorship when I competed at the Beijing Olympics in 2008. Now, as an administrator, I see the deeper value of their involvement — it’s consistent, meaningful and impactful.”

The CARIFTA Games bring together the best youth athletes from across the Caribbean, fostering regional camaraderie and competition. bmobile’s sponsorship not only supports the logistics of the games but also ensures local athletes receive visibility, motivation, and the infrastructure they need to succeed.

Team Trinidad and Tobago comprises a 97-member contingent, including 78 athletes and 19 officials. Among the standout names are defending U20 women’s long jump champion and record-holder Janae De Gannes, and US-based four-time CARIFTA medallist Sanaa Frederick, alongside her twin sister Sole Frederick. Dylan Woodruffe and Hakeem Chinapoo also headline the boys’ lineup.

Last year’s 68-member team in Grenada returned with 27 medals, and for 2025, Team TTO is aiming higher, buoyed by the strength of their talent and the support of brands like bmobile.
