bmobile Throws SEA Students a Well-Deserved PARDY
TSTT Corporate Communications
Fresh from handing in their SEA exam papers, hundreds of students across Trinidad and Tobago swapped pencils for bouncy castles, arcade games and roller skates as bmobile rolled out the green carpet for its ‘Blast OFF with bmobile’ cooldown celebrations. Hosted simultaneously on both islands, the all-inclusive events treated students, parents and teachers to a well-deserved day of fun, capping off months of hard work, long nights and emotional ups and downs.
The events, held at Nelson Mandela Park in Port of Spain and the Big Dawg Skating Rink in Bon Accord, showcased the Company’s deep commitment to education and community support, reinforcing its industry-leading role as T&T's only indigenous telecommunications provider.
A Celebration of Resilience and Community
The "Blast OFF with bmobile" events offered a joyful release after months of intense exam preparation. In Port of Spain, students enjoyed laser tag, carnival games, and live performances by soca superstar Iwer George, while parents and teachers relaxed in a dedicated pampering zone featuring massages and barbering services. In Tobago, SEA students and their supporters were treated to board games, delicious treats, and promotional giveaways in a lively, family-friendly atmosphere.
TSTT CEO Kent Western, who attended the event with his family, including his son, who wrote the exam, emphasized the company's dedication to supporting Trinidad and Tobago's youth. "SEA is more than just an exam, it's a national milestone that impacts students, parents, and teachers alike," said Western. "As a local company, we understand the importance of standing with our communities during these pivotal moments. This event is just one way we show our commitment to empowering the next generation."
Aligning with TSTT's Broader CSR Vision
The "Blast OFF with bmobile" event is but one key aspect of TSTT's longstanding commitment to education and youth development through impactful CSR initiatives. TSTT has proudly sponsored programmes like CARIRI’s Innovation Nation, YBTT’s Jumpstart Incubator for young entrepreneurs, and partnered with Restore A Sense of I Can (RSC) to deliver free critical academic support to CSEC students during the pandemic. These efforts, recognised by awards including the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT)'s Social Contribution honour, demonstrate TSTT's dedication to equipping young Trinbagonians with tools for success.
TSTT's holistic approach combines large-scale partnerships with grassroots support. The company has collaborated with organisations from Moms for Literacy Caribbean to UNICEF while maintaining employee-focused programmes like the SEA Recognition Programme and tertiary scholarship assistance for employees’ children. The bmobile Foundation's work spans digital literacy, STEM education, and community engagement, ensuring support reaches students at every level.
"True progress comes from investing in our people," said Western. "Whether through technology access, academic resources, or celebrations like Blast OFF, we're committed to walking alongside Trinidad and Tobago's families during their most important milestones." This philosophy continues to guide TSTT's unique role as both a service provider and community partner dedicated to national development.
