Behind Trinidad and Tobago’s impressive 35-medal performance at the recently concluded CARIFTA Games in Grenada was a strong show of national support, with bmobile proud to have contributed to the spirit and visibility of the Trinidad and Tobago contingent throughout the regional championships.

Travelling alongside the national team of 74 athletes and 18 officials, members of the Trinidad and Tobago Track and Field Supporters Association (TTTFSA) created a powerful presence throughout the Games, cheering relentlessly from the stands and helping to fuel the atmosphere surrounding the country’s young athletes.

Clad in coordinated national colours designed and printed through bmobile’s support, the travelling supporters became a visible extension of Team Trinidad and Tobago, reinforcing morale and creating a strong sense of unity throughout the competition.

The local contingent returned home with nine gold, 11 silver and 15 bronze medals to finish second overall on the medal standings behind Jamaica.

Recognising the impact that visible support and national pride can have on athlete confidence and performance, bmobile partnered with the TTTFSA to ensure the supporters’ presence was not only felt, but clearly seen throughout the regional championships.

The result was an energised and unified atmosphere that complemented the athletes’ performances and contributed to one of Trinidad and Tobago’s strongest CARIFTA showings in recent years.

Anjanie Ramesar-Soom, Corporate Environmental and Social Responsibility Specialist at TSTT said the initiative reflected the company’s continued commitment to youth development and national representation through sport.

“When young athletes look into the stands and see their country behind them, it changes the atmosphere completely. We wanted our athletes to feel that support every step of the way,” she said.

“At bmobile, we believe national development also means investing in the systems of encouragement, pride and community that help young people thrive.”

The company has remained a longstanding supporter of athletics development in Trinidad and Tobago, including ongoing investment in initiatives that support both emerging and elite athletes.

Prior to the CARIFTA Games, bmobile also supported the Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships, which served as a key qualifying platform for several members of the national team.

Trinidad and Tobago’s medal haul represented the country’s best CARIFTA performance since 2010. Among the standout performances were twins Tyrique and Tenique Vincent successfully

defending their boys’ and girls’ Under-20 combined events titles, while Kiile Alexander Reid captured gold in the boys’ Under-20 800 metres in a record time of 1:50.38.

Nyla Kerr and Oshea Cummings also delivered a dominant one-two finish in the girls’ Under-17 1500 metres event, while Tessica Laurence secured Trinidad and Tobago’s first-ever CARIFTA medal in the pole vault with a bronze-medal performance in the girls’ Open division.

TTTFSA member Andre Mills, whose daughter Imani Mills earned silver in the girls’ Under-20 4x100m relay, praised the partnership and its impact on the athletes.

“When our athletes looked into the stands and saw a unified sea of red, white and black support behind them, it gave them an extra lift. That energy can make all the difference in how they perform,” he said.

For 18-year-old North Gate College student Imani Mills, competing in front of such visible national support left a lasting impression during her CARIFTA debut.

“It made me realise I’m not just running for myself, but for my country and all the people supporting me,” she said.

As Trinidad and Tobago celebrates the success of its young athletes, bmobile’s support of both the competitors and the community behind them reinforced the power of unity, encouragement and national pride on the regional stage.
